Star Warz has been visited by all leading and uprising artists & labels in the scene and it is one of the partners of Tomorrowland since day one. Some of the many extra ordinary editions include: all Metalheadz nights, 20 Years Of Ram records, 15 Years of Virus Recordings & Soul:ution, 10 Years of Exit Records, 10 Years of Shogun Audio, 15 Years of Dispatch Recordings and the list goes on. Each of them memorable nights that will go down in the history books of Drum ’n’ Bass. And now, as also they are celebrating their 15th anniversary, Critical Music is back for more of that special Drum ‘n’ Bass vibe Star Warz represents. They would not have chosen anyone else for their special celebration in Belgium!
Critical Music reached its 100th release in its 15th year, celebrating with the landmark album ‘Fifteen Years Of Underground Sonics’ earlier this year. Spanning the broad spectrum of Drum ‘n’ Bass that the Critical sound represents, the exceptional ‘15’ album is as bold as it is beautiful and looks to serve the test of time in the D&B history books.
As label-boss Kasra explains: “Over the past 15 years the label I started as a hobby, as a way to involve myself in Drum ‘n’ Bass, has taken over my life. I’m so lucky to have worked with such incredible artists, have them realize their creativity, and travelled all over the world spreading the sound I love. I deliberated for a long time over what type of record we should put together to celebrate reaching both our 15th birthday and 100th release. I like to think of us as a label that looks forward, that focuses on what the future holds and on how to make statements without sacrificing our core ideals, to release exciting music centered around the 170bpm tempo. So with this in mind I wanted the LP to be about where the label is now and where it’s going, a snapshot of the music that represents the Critical sound by core label acts and some choice friends. This album is an insight into Critical Music in 2017 and a thank you to all who have been involved in any way over the past 15 years.”
Kasra secured Mefjus as a fully fledged member of the Critical Music squad in 2013 after several great releases on Bad Taste, Disturbed, Trust in Music, Citrus, Tilt, Mindtech, Ammunition Recordings & Neosignal. He first got signed with a collaboration with Enei, followed by one with the label-boss himself before two solo productions: ‘The Contemporary’ and ‘Hello World’ EP’s. His debut album ‘Emulation’ subsequently won the Drum&Bass Arena’s ‘Album Of The Year 2015’ title which means the future’s looking extremely good for this extraordinary young producer. Mefjus is now also a regular guest at Critical events all over the world and we’re very happy to welcome him on Star Warz again after two outstanding performances in the past years.
One of the new breed of uber-talented producers currently making waves within the Drum ‘n’ Bass community is Emperor. Having proved himself with some heavyweight releases on Symmetry, Titan, Ammunition and some exquisite dubstep gems on the Caliber label, Emperor affiliated himself with scene stalwart Kasra and the Critical family in 2013. Ever since, his popularity as well as his production technique has gone from strength to strength. His first EP entitled ‘Begin’ tore holes in dance floors across the underground scene. Mid 2014 saw him team up with the mighty power of Mefjus and together they produced a 4 track belter of an EP ‘Hello World‘, gaining support from all major players. His widely acclaimed debut album, ‘Dispositions’, and his forthcoming Shadow EP on Neosignal, cemented him as one to take heed of.
Klax emerged from the thriving Brighton Drum ‘n’ Bass scene in 2014. The trio quickly gained prominence with a debut DnB release on Renegade Hardware called ‘Vendetta’. This forward thinking track caught the ears of several taste-makers in the scene, including Foreign Concept who enlisted them for a collab on his next EP on Critical. The fruit of this joint effort, ‘Ask Yourself’, quickly garnered huge support and was much applauded for its musicality and boundary pushing sentiment. Following this, the trio delivered a three tracker for Critical’s digital offshoot Binary, the lead track of which shot to the top three in Beatport’s DnB charts. Spurred on by this success Klax got in the studio and turned out another EP, this time for Critical:Systems. Aside from their genre bending remixes of Culprate and Emperor, 2017 has seen the guys first release on Critical proper with the ‘Rekanize’ EP, a diverse 5 tracker that runs the full gamut of DnB and with which they have really made a compelling statement of intent.

Hailing from Toulouse in France, young Monty showcases an array of fast-paced, super-skilled drum & bass and cutting edge halftime. Having already released on respected labels such as Critical Music, Invisible, Flexout Audio, Vandal, Cyberfunk and recently an EP on Alix Perez’s 1985 Music, Monty has already made a name for himself in the world of drum and bass but this is only the beginning. Monty’s DJ sets are famous for being diverse, progressive and high energy. Flowing through sub-genres smoothly and harmonically taking the audience on a sonic journey with unparalleled groove.
